The Legendary Gypsy Queens & Kings featuring Romanian brass demons of Fanfare Ciocarlia has enjoyed exceptional success around the world over the past three years; this included a sold out concert at the Barbican in 2007 which made history – The Independent wrote: “…just one verse was enough to make this the concert of the year.” The Gypsy Queens & Kings 2009/2010 still features Macedonian Gypsy Queen Esma Redzepova, Bulgarian Mahala rocker Jony Iliev, young Romanian singer and Taraf De Haidouks’ Nicolae Neacsus granddaughter Florentina Sandu, as well as acclaimed French rumba Gitano group Kaloome. New to Gypsy Queens & Kings is Romanias vibrant Gypsy brass band Mahala Rai Banda who will be performing new material especially created for this new show.
